The Island

St Lucia is often compared to the South Pacific because of its lush inland mountains, misty waterfalls and soaring volcanic peaks (the PITONS) out of sea. It has 19,000 acres of rain forest which is lush with orchids, bromeliads, bamboos and ferns and is also the finest bird watching destinations in the West Indies. This mystical island of the Caribbean is the yachting center of the Caribbean with dazzling under water scenery, miles of fine beaches, A UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of Operah’s “Top Five Places to See Before You Die”.

St Lucia (LOOSH-yah) lies at a latitude of 13 54 north longitude 60 50 west.  One of the Windward Islands, it is located in the middle of the eastern Caribbean chain. Our neighbors are Martinique, 21 miles from our northern tip and St Vincent 26 miles from our southern tip. Both of which are visible on a clear day. Barbados is 110 miles to the southeast. Castries (population 50 000) is the islands capital and is situated northwest of the island.

The new ultra-luxury resort community of Le Paradis is on the Praslin Bay, facing the Atlantic on the eastern coast, a short drive from either the islands two international airports.. The bay is surrounded by a system interlocking reefs, which completely protects it from the Atlantic swell. Historically, Le Paradis’ site on Praslin Bay was on of the main ports in St Lucia, playing a key role in the settlement on the island.

Our CLIMATE The climate is tropical, with temperatures ranging from mi-70s to mid-80s (25 C to 30 C). During the hottest time of the year from June to August temperatures can reach the mid-90C (32 C). Even the hottest times though, are assured but constant trade winds. Average annual rainfall ranges from 60 inches in the coastal regions to 160 inches in the interior rain forest. The rainy season is from June to October.
